Delaware Airpark was founded as a privately owned airport in 1954 by Floyd H.L Durham (1918-2010), a native American with deep roots within the local Lenape community when land became available near his property, allowing him to pursue his dream of flying. Today, Durham is considered one of the fathers of aviation in the state and a member of the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame.
